This handsome catalogue, newly released from Yale University Press, accompanies the summer 2008 show of the same name at Hancock Shaker Village. For almost 70 years pioneering Shaker scholar-collectors Edward Deming Andrews and Faith Young Andrews worked to "gather up the fragments" of Shaker culture. This book comprehensively presents the Andrews' story for the first time. More than 600 photographs, most never before published, with essays by Mario S. De Pillis, professor emeritus of American religious and social history at University of Massachuestts at Amherst, and Hancock Shaker Village Curator of Collections, Christian Goodwillie.
